This is the first national Round-Table Forum to bring African women representatives from around the nation to discuss the role of African women as agents of change, and develop a National African Women’s Plan of Action.
The Forum will facilitate networking among and between African women’s groups, enhance relations between the African Women’s Council of Australia and other women’s associations in Australia, African community representatives, government, businesses and service providers.

It is just right to hold such an important forum at this time especially 2011 being a Centenary of the International Women’s Day and the International Year of People of African Descent. The participation of women from diverse cultural, linguistic and religious backgrounds in social, economic, cultural and political life of a nation is crucial in achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
